MINA - LIVE 78 (Pdu, 1978)
1978. August, 23
One historical date in Italian music (and not only): the last live apparition of The Divina. Since then, no live apparitions (live gigs or tv show, anything) if not some studio fragments. The regret is large and this album explain it very well: a stratospheric exhibition whose value comes bigger from the historical importance of the recording.
Recording happened by chance, like technical test in future forecast, because other four dates of 15 at the Bussoladomani were previewed. Perhaps video recordings was scheduled also but all it jumped for a bronchopneumonia of the singer, whom it first made send back then cancel the remaining dates definitively.
To Divina's fans, this record means as much as the Fabs playing on the roof or Play it fuckin loud by “Judas”.
the album
After the studio recorded intro, the declamatory se stasera sono qui (here, tonight again I’m.. here, I remember that I’ve been here before, then I’ve stopped, I’ve lost myself... No… they didn’t stop the engine, and I swear they have tried to, but it didn’t help… if tonight I’m here…) La Divina turn the heat on with staying alive and l’importante è finire, in order to enter in orbit with all the 6000 blessed ones with non può morire un’idea.
The rest of the concert sees La Divina to space from the popular song (lacreme napulitane, so tremendous that people do not succeed to wait for the end in order to explode in a roar) to disco again (with città vuota - it's a lonely town) to soul (georgia on my mind - who earns her a fabulous SEI UNICA!) with an interpretation ability that has little equal ones all over the world.
Personally, my peaks are non può morire un’idea, e poi… (those “No! No! Le tue promesse... No! No! Sempre le stesse...”, fucking goosebumps e v e r ytime) and the Lucio Battisti’s medley emozioni/ancora tu/sì viaggiare/i giardini di marzo.
I hope for some of you this will be a starting point.
Buon ascolto
